Kings Island: 2014 Project Construction Update

We visited Kings Island today while on the way to Holiday World for Holiwood Nights. Of course we were very interested to see what has changed since our last visit a little over two weeks ago. Upon arriving, we noticed that land clearing, footer placement& pouring and surveying was still ongoing. Not a lot has changed, however, there are a few new footers as well as some currently being ready for pouring.

Our minds are running wild with what Kings Island could be building... It could really be anything but of course our inner enthusiast wants a brand new coaster!

But then the question that comes forward, "What type of coaster is it?" Well from the footers that have been placed it would seem that a steel coaster is coming in. However, that is just our personal opinion and everyone will have something different playing out in their head. Today there was a lot of activity including surveyors, pouring of footers, and area preparation. So lets get to the photos!

The first batch of photos are from a gap in the gate and show an eye level view of what has been going on:

In the second photo you can see two large strips of concrete going in. These are new and were not there during our last visit... As of right now I am still having a hard time figuring out what these new footers are...

Then I decided to ride Drop Zone and yes I brought my phone on the ride...

There is more prep work taking place further down the small hill that leads down to the large clearing behind the Son of Beast station. There are also a group of markers there as well.

There is a look at the large strips going in. Anyone have any ideas what this could be?

Now onto the part that I really found interesting, a triangular footer has been poured and has three separate attachments for supports. So I did some digging and on Leviathan at Canada's Wonderland while watching the POV I found some triangular footers.

There is one before the hammerhead immediately following the air time speed bump and another right after the turn around into the break run before the building.

After seeing this, I have a feeling we are going to see a B&M. But what kind... The immediate ideas that come to mind are a Wing or Giga Coaster. While neither really makes sense considering Cedar Point is only a little over three hours away and contains both, these are the only two options from B&M that I can see becoming reality. Plus a B&M Giga Coaster would be a completely different experience from Millennium Force and we have heard that from riders who have experienced both. However, any coaster manufacturer could have these triangular supports therefore, I am not making my complete decision just yet. But I do think it is safe to say Kings Island is definitely building a coaster!

Anyone have any ideas or thoughts?
